Hello everyone, I have this combination of those two devices, and I sat to watch a DVD I bought.

The movie is 16:9, but when I set the P.Size (picture size) in my samsung to 16:9 I still see above and below BLACK rows, and tv screen is not 100% so it's like I have a 28 inches one, instead of a 32'' eventhough I've set my Toshiba DVD Recorder d-r255g to use 16:9.

moroever if I set 16:9 the faces are stretched (the picture is only bigger in width, but not in height, so I'm forced to use 4:3 in my 16:9 screen!)

Who is to blame (TV or Recorder) and what can I do about it? [a possible firmware upgrade on the tv or recorder?]

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,

I too own a Samsung SlimFit 30" HD TV (TXS3082WH).
I set my dvd recorder/player to 16:9 and when I still get the top and bottom black bars on my tv I change the "P.Size" to "ZOOM1" and the picture comes out fine.

I must say, this tv IS a disapointment when watching 4:3 shows, the bowing is very noticeable.
But then again, this tv is meant to be watched in Widescreen.
Good thing I bought the 4 year warranty plan.

the thing is, I always get the black bars on top and in the bottom.

P.Size to ZOOM1 is somehow better, but it cuts image from a real 16:9 and what is more it also cuts subtitles [from DIVX which I always watch]. So Zoom1 is not a solution :/

Any other ideas? So you think it's the TV to blame? oh boy.. :/
