    Hi folks..yes, I'm a newbie.

I really have a problem, and am hoping some of you super-brains can help.

A friend did a video capture of an event via his computer. He sent it to me yesterday, and when I played it (it was a birthday party) it was so pixelated, I could not recognize a single person. I've seen bad captures, but this takes the cake.

I asked why it looked so bad, and he said that he used something called SnagIt to do the capture, and he clearly does not have the hang of it yet.

So then, I have a 29mb avi file on my hard drive, and it's almost unviewable.

Is there any software (or freeware) that I can pass this file through, that might reduce the pixelation?...even a little would be nice.

I'd sure hate to keep this in it's present form.

Any and all advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

    thx, Tonya

You could try VirtualDub or VD Mod and the MSU Smart Deblocking Filter: http://www.hlinke.de/vdub-filter/msu_smartdeblock.zip I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for a major improvement, but it's worth a try and the programs and filters are freeware. If you need guides for using VirtualDub, you can find them to the lower part of the VD tool page. Just follow the VD link above.

    And welcome to our forums.
