    rhem,

You could try Taiyo Yuden disks, and/or using ImgBurn for the burning as a partial test to see if it's the burner, or you could post a burn log from Nero. The cheapest, most likely way to find the problem is to post the Nero burn log, preferably from a burn that failed.

The first thing to change is always the DVD media. It's the cheapest and easiest to modify. Try some different media. You can check your burner in 'DVD Writers' to the left and see what others use for media. If you try several different brands with the same results, try cleaning the laser lens. Next try a firmware upgrade, though they are usually for working with newer media and that is likely not your problem.

Out of maybe 500 or more burns with different burners, I have probably had one or two coasters and both of them were my fault and not the media or burner. You should have no failures. I use TY media now and I used ProDisk in the past. The TY was not really much higher priced and works well for me.

If you have failures with quality media that is compatible with your burner and your software is not at fault, maybe the burner is failing. Even the best burners can have manufacturer flaws. But I would try a media change and the other ideas before considering replacement.
