  1. While Sub2Divx is the easiest app to mux subs directly into the movie, I am getting very ugly subs. They are translucent and broken around the edges. Attached screenshot of what I get.

yep they look bad on software player but try them on a SAP and you'll see the diffrence.

    my suggestion:
    make the xsubs with srt2bmp

mux the xsubs onto the avi with DIVXMUX GUI
I love it when a plan comes together!

  4. Thanks Ricardo.....but you know Sub2Divx uses DivxMux only. Only difference is it renders with bmp2sub instead of srt2bmp. You think thats the problem?

    PS: Whats a SAP?

    SAP is for "stand-alone player".

the xsub will look pretty in your TV. If you play the movie in your computer, it's more convenient to leave the subtitle format as .srt

yes .. if you try it on a stand alone player ..it'll look great .......
but on computer it's ... ugly ...as u say

maybe you can try AVI ReComp .. but it just re-encode the movie with subtitles on it ...

Current version of divxplayer (6.3.1) displays muxed subtitles fine. Much better.
