    Hi folks,

Long time no see! Well I have made a fresh install of my Win XP SP1 and updated everything DirectX 9c and all stuff. I am experiencing now a strange black-white video all over the the place.
Every video I play is in black-white, but they are colored. PowerDVD shows movies in black-white too. I played around whit DirectShow Filter Manager and RadLight Filter Manager and at least Windows Media player 9 is colored back now. I set WMR9 to be maximum merity over others. Media player Classic (thank god for its creation) was an easier task I just changed the default render to WMR9 inside the MPC menus.
I still have problem PoewerDVD is in black-white until now and internet stream videos are all in black-white too.
Could help me solving this no color problem.

    See you later,

  2. Install the latest drivers for the graphics card then fiddle with the overlay settings.

    Hi folks,

jagabo could you be a little more illustrative ? I already have the latest nvidia drivers for my PC. I don't understand the "fiddle with the overlay settings". Please clarify it. Thank you for your attention.

  4. Start -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Advanced... Beyond that point each card/driver has it's own dialogs. I don't have a nVidia card so I can't give you futher detailed instructions. Just look for settings related Overlay.

Many drivers seem to have overlay settings misconfigured when first installed. Turning overay off (then exit the dialog, or press Apply) then turning it back on often fixes the problems.

If you don't see Overlay explicitly listed in the dialogs look for a Troubleshoot tab and adjust the Hardware Acceleration slider. As with Overlay you should turn Hardware Acceleration down, exit the dialog or hit Apply, then turn it back up.

    Hi folks,

Thank you very much jagabo your suggestion solved part of the poblem some stream videos still paly black-white and PowerDVD still play black-white too. Other streaming videos plays colored now. Maybe now it's a Directshow filters problem? I changed them a little while searching for the culprit. Could it be the problem now?

  6. Some codecs have their own bw/color settings.

Try playing some of the problematic files with Media Player Classic. While the video is playing, select Play -> Filters -> whatever video codecs or devices appear there. Look through the dialogs to see if there are any bw/color settings.

    Hi folks,

Is there any tools different from the ones I have already mentioned to handle installed codecs and directshow filters like a place to see all of them and configure each one? I am really worried about this "no color" problem I still couldn't solve it. Suggestions, ideas, etc. are welcome. Please, somebody help me?

    See you later,
