  1. I'm using VirtualVcr and the audio is fine during preview, but when I start to capture I lose the audio and the avi file has no audio. I have the audio out from my Asus TV Tuner card going into the Line in on my sound card and I assume thats all fine because I can record audio using the Windows Sound Recorder set to Line In as the source.

I tested with VirtualDub and I have the same problem if I select "Capture Video" from the Capture menu. But I do get audio in the AVI if I select "Capture Video (Compatability Mode)" from the Capture menu. Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2 capture choices or what the equivalent setting is in VirtualVCR?

I need to use VirtualVCR because my card has a WDM driver and virtualDub won't work with anything other than NNNx240 and I can't get the VFW to WDM wrapper to work with this card and or Win XP.

Does anyone have an idea how I can capture audio with VirtualVCR?

I have an Asus TV Tuner Card and I'm running Win XP Pro. My sound card is built into my Motherboard which is an Asus P4PE. The sound drivers are SoundMax.

  2. I have the same problem... I went into my options and discovered that the sound inputs were not enabled, but there is no way to enable them.

You usually have to jumper the audio from your TV tuner card to your sound card input. Most TV tuner cards rely on the user's sound card to capture audio.

  4. Let me explain my position a little better:

My software and hardware are both configured together correctly and work fine in Win98... but the exact same configs in Win2k (swapping partitions on the same drive) results in no audio. Now here's the weird part... in both OSs, there is a brief moment of sound that "pops" through whenever I toggle the record button. But it there is never any sound record in the Win2k setup. Regardless of the OS, I can tell whether or not it's recording sound by whether or not it's playing though my speakers at the same time. I haven't reviewed my hardware structure in quite a while, but there's still no reason for this (at least on a matter of hardware).
