I have an AVI movie with an aditional file for the subtitles. Does any one know how to embed the subtitles so I can burn it to a DVD and still have the subtitles? I think thats really as clear as I can get....please help, ask me questions if I need to be more specific.

  2. Hi-

You don't have to embed them, although you can "burn" them into the video when encoding. Better would be to make them selectable, like with retail DVDs (usually), although maybe that's what you meant.

Anyway, it's done at the authoring stage, after the reencoding for MPEG-2, and depending on the format of the subs (SUP, IDX/SUB, SRT, SSA, etc.), and the authoring app used, you may have to convert the subs to some other format first, or use them as is.

Rather than ask a question like that, maybe you had better check out the guides on the left, and use the search engine to find other similar threads. You're not the first person to wonder about that.

Does any one know how to embed the subtitles so I can burn it to a DVD and still have the subtitles?

Probably a few thousand people here know how to do it
