I know I can join 2 AVIs with QT7, ffmpeg or VisualHub. However I'm using Snow Leopard with Quicktime X. I don't want to install ffmpeg cos I don't want to run Rosetta and VisualHub is retired.

    So what are my options?

1/ You can have QuickTime 7 (Pro) installed besides QuickTime X. QuickTime 7 is even included on your OS disc as an optional install.
2/ You don't need Rosetta for ffmpeg (or ffmpegX for that matter). (Besides, the whole point of Rosetta was that it runned without user interaction, seamlessly in the background, solving problems you didn't know about.)
3/ The fact that VisualHub is retired only means "no new features or fixes". It still does what it did back then.

4/ D-Vision (free) is an option
5/ MPEG Streamclip (free) is another option
6/ ffmpegX has an "avimerge" binary in its application package for command line use, if you want/need more options than the GUI provides.

I second that. VishualHub runs fine on Snow Leopard 10.6.5. I batching four DVDs to Xvid .avi ( High Quality)
right now as I type this, and on a quad
core iMac, it will be done in less than 1 hour.
