I want to uninstall Norton Internet Security 2005 and was wondering the best way to do it. On Norton's site they have a link to uninstall it. Does this work better than Window's uninstall programs? Does anyone have any experience with this?

You should try to uninstall all of the applications that came with it, including the firewall itself through the Windows Install/Uninstall option. If you have no other way that going to their website, do it. There is an application you can download for free called TweakNow RegCleaner Standard from:
    http://www.tweaknow.com/

After you uninstall Norton Internet Security 2005 you can run it to remove all of the registry entries from your system.

  5. Wouldn't hurt to go ahead an run a registry cleaner too, just to remove the crap that the uninstalled left behind.

I installed Computer Associates EZArmor. It was free from the cable company. Norton was on my computer when I bought it and didn't want to pay for Norton.

    boldego,

You have no idea how much time, trouble and computer resources you saved by dumping NIS. VERY good move. I have no idea how well EZArmor works, but either way, you've done yourself a big favor.

If EZarmor doesn't do the trick, there are a number of threads here you could search and find what other people have used for free alternatives.

    Personally:

    - Router w/ Firewall and NAT (Disabled XPs software based firewall)
    - Avast antivirus (automatic updates/scans)
    - Adaware (manual updates/scans)
    - Spybot S&D (manual updates/scans)

Have a had a problem since.
    Have a good one,

    neomaine

CA's EZArmor is pretty good from what I've seen. As another poster said, removing NIS is one of the best things you could have done. Tell your friends and neighbors.

You might want to look into Comodo (free) at some point. But don't rock the boat, as CA is good too.
