  1. I'm looking to hook up a Media PC to a standard def TV. How well would a device like this work? Anyone had any experience with somthing like this?

My other PC has an S-Video out but the picture is lacking and fonts the size used on icons are all but impossible to read.
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

No that won't work. VGA is RGBHV.

Most graphics cards output composite or Y/C (S-video). They are cheap.

For analog component (YPbPr) out you need something like an ATI 9550 ($45 up) or higher with their analog component adapter (~$30) or the Nvidia equivalent.

  3. Standard Def TV will never look sharp connected to the computer. HD is another story presuming the HDTV has something like a VGA OR DVI input. I'm using a 32"HDTV for a computer monitor as well as watching TV and many are hooking them up to their XBox 360 for example for gaming.

You will notice that a SDTV is ok to use with something running MCE but that uses large size to be readable.
