  1. I have problems with both programs. When I try to shrink DVDs with or without copy protection (I use AnyDVD when copy protected) they both stop after a while and tell me to reinstall the software because some files are corrupted.
I have tried unistalling, cleaning the registry and reinstalling but I still cannot use any of them. I have run a virus and trojan check on my computer with Windows XP and the computer resets before finishing the check. Can it be a virus that prevents both programs from working properly?
Can anybody suggest what to do?
    Thanks for your help

A virus or similar would be one possibility. You can try running your scan in 'safe mode'. This will keep most drivers from loading, including some virus/trojan types.

Unplug From the internet if you are using a high speed connection while doing this, in case your problem wants to 'phone home'.

You can also try a online scan while you are hooked up to the internet. Go to: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also check your Task Manager and see how much memory/CPU is being used. CPU usage should be fairly low most of the time. Memory depends on how much you have installed.

And take a look at the Processes page. Look for processes that have unusual combinations of letters and numbers.

If these problems are only when running Shrink or encoding, you may have a overheat or RAM problem. But this would happen with any CPU intensive operation. But the corrupted file error raises suspicions of a virus/trojan.

    Try the virus scans first.
