  1. I have two segments of a documentary that I recorded onto DVDRW, and then used TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert them to two MPEG-2s with AC3 sound. However, I'd like to join the two together into one single MPEG-2 file for authoring.

The authoring is not a problem, but how can I join these two files together to form a single, continuous file for authoring and playback? I cant seem to find anything on the site.

I know about demuxing audio and MPEG streams, so dont worry about hitting me with anything a bit technical

    Thanks as always.

  2. If you hit output of TDA, TDA will generate the complete DVD in the video_ts folder. The VOB files are as big as 1GB a piece. You can use smartripper, to convert the vob file into DVD mpeg2 file.

  3. What do you mean? If I put both MPEG-2s in a single "track" in TDA, and then use Smartripper to rip them both into one MPEG2 from the TDA output files?

Or you can save yourself some trouble and just add both of them to the same track in TDA, edit the frames you don't want & author it.
    Done!!

You don't need to join them into a single file to make it one continuous show.

You don't even have too use TDA to get two mpg files.... let alone one
just load from both VIDEO_TS folders into the same track, edit, author and your done.

Unless you did not record them as standard dvd's with VIDEO_TS folders, then just do what i stated in the first place.

  5. If I add both to the same track, it doesnt output one continuous Title, though, right? It well have two titles with the second playing after the first and resetting the counter to 0:00:00 when its get to the second.

And I was going to author in DVD Lab Pro.

when you do it that way in TDA it will be one contiuous move with ne restarts of the counter, you just need to delete the chapter mark where the two were joined so there is not a slight pause.

In DVD-lab PRO, which i now use about 99% of the time, i'm not sure as i have never tried or investigated it. You can add two movies then draw a connection line from the end of one to the start of the second one, author and test on your pc before burning to see. don't take but a few minutes.
I author just menu's & transitions, just movies to test things all the time.
But i've never had to try and join two halves in DVD-lab PRO.

I even keep a few vid's a few minutes each on my pc just for testing diff. things i am working on before doing the long vids to save time testing.

  7. OK, I will try this in TDA. I actually dont need a menu, so wont bother with DVD Lab.

Thanks, I hope it works as you say it will as one continuous title.

DLP can't do it as nicely as TDA. You can use the movie segment object, but you can't have chapter points except at the join, and it isn't seamless. If you just draw a link from movie one to movie two you still get two titles. TDA is the better option in this instance.

Unless you used VobMerge on the original VOBS, then Vob2Mpg to get a single mpeg video to author as needed.

All you have to do is make sure you delete the chapter point where the movie is joined otherwise there might be a slight pause, i've done it that way a hundred times.

And why not make a menu in TDA ? it's easy as it gets in TDA.

  10. Im only not making one cos I dont need one, lol. Just gonna have the program on, might as well have it start once the disc is inserted. And I hate TDA meuys anyways, but thats not the reason why Im not having one.
