hi
ive a new laptop win xp, premiere v6 and trying to capture avi via firewire a dv camcorder.
it works fine - no dropped frames but cuts out after about 15 mins or so.
not hd size or speed - it's big/powerful
read previous threads about file system type but im using ntfs so it can't presumably be that. any ideas?
cheers

Try transferring from cam to PC to DV AVI (default) using WinDV and see if you get the same issue.
Set discontinuity = 0 and max frames = 1,000,000 (1 million, no commas) - that will get you one large file.
The discontinuity setting of 1 or higher is there to detect different recordings and to write to a new file for each new recording.
Max frames is per file. This is easy to work out as PAL = 25 frames per second (fps) and NTSC is (to make calculations easy) 30 fps. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

He said he's using NTFS. But it might be a 4Gb limit in Premier.
