TMPGenc DVD Author 3 Maximum Size

Hi,


I'm currently making a DVD compilation of sorts and I'm using TMPGenc DVD Author 3. I compiled them, maked the menu and stuff, and at the output I found out that the maximum size was only 9GB (my file size was 11 GB, and this was the first time that I reached that limit). I have DVD Shrink so I'm not really worried with fitting it in the DVD but are there other softwares that doesn't have this limit? Thanks!

Very few, if any. You are limited by the size of a physical disc. If you encode properly in the first place, rather than follow sloppy practice and use Shrink to fix the problem, you will get a better quality outcome.

You might try GUIForDVDAuthor, as I believe it might let you go over size, however it is still a poor method to follow.

With DVD Author 1.6 you can ignore the warnings and make it any size you like.

I'm thinking that I did encode it properly, but its just that there are too many video that I'm cramming into a single disk . I'll check the GUIforDVDAuthor and 1.6 too.

If you encoded it properly it would have fit. regardless of how much you may be trying to cram onto the disc, or how low the quality might be because of it, if you use the right bitrate it will fit. if it doesn't fit, you did it wrong.

Secondly, if you are trying to fit too much on, the quality is already going to be questionable. Using a transcoder like Shrink to force it to fit is only going to reduce the quality further.

I get the feeling you haven't really thought this through.

It seems that TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6 is also having an error in the 11GB size. Oh well, I'll try the GUIforDVDauthor and if it fails, I'll just have to cut back on those videos that I have.
