    Hi all,

I'm trying to burn a CD with an Xvid file (700MB) to watch on my standalone player (Yamaha E600) that's supposed to play Divx/Xvid.... From what I learned here I just need to burn it as a data CD but the player just says "unknown disc". What do I have to do to make this work?

    Thanks! Philip.

  3. Burn as an ISO or UDF format data CD (or DVD), no Multisession (close or finalize the session). Note, some players will only play files with an AVI extension. If your file ends in DIVX change it to AVI. If it is am MKV, MP4 or other extension you may not be able to play it without remuxing into an AVI file.

If you still are having playing problems after burning to CD, you might look into AVI.net for encoding as it is designed to make a compatible video file for settop Divx players.

If it is already an avi, but not compatable, you could also look at avirecomp, which is designed to re-encode avis to Xvid for settop playback
