I recently received a torrent of a dvd. It included everything in the Video_TS folder. After unpacking it, I loaded it in DVD Shrink, added the Audio_TS folder and backed it up as an .ISO file. I then burned the .ISO using DVD Decrypter. Everything appeared fine, my computer read the disc just like any other dvd that I put in. However, when I went to load it in my dvd player, I got a message that "this type of disc will not play in this machine". When I attempted to play from other players, I keep getting similar messages. I've tried different ways (DVD Santa, Ultra ISO, Nero, Folder2ISO, etc.) of burning the disc, yet only get the same results. What am I missing?!? I (had to finally break down and) read the manual for my VCR, and it stated that it will only play DVDs that are NTSC, not PAL. Would that have anything to do with the problem? (I have been unable to find any setting on any program for creating or burning .ISOs)

    Can anybody help me?

I don't know if it is a PAL DVD. I'm not sure how to tell. The only time I've seen any setting for it is when I'm working on a project in DVD Architect, before I author the DVD.

Other DVDs have played fine, although I have experienced this once or twice from DVDs I've borrowed and they did the same thing! They wouldn't play in the player but they did play on the computer.

Where do I go from here?

  5. I hate to recommend this since it's such a sucky answer... but almost every DVD player you buy now will play a PAL disc, even (especially) the cheapo $30 Chinese players (Cyberhome, etc). Maybe it's time for a new player.

That's what i would think... that is if I wasn't trying to play the disk on NEW PLAYERS!!! I've tried the disks on players that were specifically purchased for their ability to play multiple types of disk formats... IN FACT, the one play that did accept the disk is an old Apex unit (go figure).

I still must figure this out! It's becoming an obsession (a costly one at that - every time i think I've solved it, I burn another disk!!!)

    I still need Help!

    PS
Can I take one of the above mentioned DVDs and look at it with any programs to see where the problem is? Can this be solved from the back end?
