I've been reading through the forums and found lots of topics on how to remove the logo's that stations put into the corners of their broadcasts. However i've not been able to find any topics regarding the removal of encoders logo's.
In general i have nothing against an encoder putting their logo onto something they've worked on, after all it's their time and effort that went into creating it. However i prefer it to be done tastefully on the credits rather than slapping some giant spinning disc into the middle of the feature.
Is there any way to remove this? Is it actually encoded into the feature, or is it a seperate layer like subtitles? The files in question are .mkv and .ogm, what tools are out there that can help, and is it something that's easily done?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Not much to do, than stay away from this kind of video. The logos are encoded into the movie itself, and not a layer you can simply take out. Even if there was a simple filter to use, you'd have to reencode the video, lowering the overall quality. Not worth it, IMO.

If you have read about the removal of station ID's then you have read about removel of the logos you are talking about - they are essentially the same thing. And as Mats has pointed out, they really cannot be convincingly removed without damaging the video quality.

I think i must've missed that bit, i saw lots about removing opaque logo's. From the sounds of it though it's gonna be hard to do, and minimal benefits.

  6. Most alpha-blended logos CAN indeed be pretty well removed WITHOUT doing more harm than good by using DeLogo. When used correctly, it will NOT leave a blurry blob as so many claim.

You WILL have to re-encode the video however, so that's a stage of more loss no matter what.
