What is the best image size to use for pics that will be put into a slideshow and authored to DVD? I've used 720X480 in the past and it didn't quite fit the screen like I thought it would have. I understand that different TV's have different viewable areas, but is that the only thing that would cause a 720X480 pic not to fit perfectly?

I'll be using Video Studio 9. I'm not sure if VS9 will stretch or shrink down pics that are too large or too small, but I have over 100 pics to do so I'd like to get it right the first time.

    This is NTSC.

I asked a similar question in the past and I didn't really get the answer I was looking for.

    Thank you.

Best to use 4x3 format and no need to resize from your camera.

The Ulead Forum will give you a lot more answers.

I prep all of my images in Photoshop first to the correct size. This has a number of advantages, including the ability to crop, colour match and perform overall corrections in a an environment that is better suited to photographic work, and the fact that Photoshop generally resizes much better than most video programs. The only time I leave the photographs bigger than video res when doing slideshows is when I am going to be panning or zooming (the so-called Ken Burn's Effect).

The correct size. Do you resize them to 720X480, or the equivalent for PAL?

Do you know what size the safe zone is for TV viewing of 4:3?

    Thanks.

I use 1024x768 inserting some Gaussian Blur in PS IF the image is too sharp.
    It works!

720 x 576 for PAL. Photoshop has safe zones in the template, and all decent editors have a title safe and action safe overlay.
