Hey all. I'm having trouble burning KVCD's to CD-R, I use nero 7 but when I try to use "burn image to disc" I get errors as soon as I hit the burn button...

    images removed, all fixed

Why is this happening? I'm using standard philips 700mb/80 min CD-R's with burn speed set to the recommended 8x speed, the burner is fine as it will burn other types of cd (such as audio). If I don't use "StartSmart" and just double click the .cue file, nero opens but crashes after a second.

You have to love software that miss-spells "quality" - fills one with confidence.

How did you create the image that you are trying to burn ?

I've tried various kvcd images avaliable on the net from different locations, so it's something to do with nero I suspect.

I'll search around now but do you know of any reliable freeware applications to burn image files?

Can you try burning at 4x? Sometimes slower speed burning can help. You might also want to get Daemon tools and mount your images before burning and try playing them. Do they play OK? How big are they? Any chance they are too big to fit on one CD-R?

bridgey6 - You need to be careful because admitting that you downloaded these images is most likely a violation of Forum rules.

I said I downloaded them from various sources, I didn't say where. That doesn't mean they're illegal.

I opened the files with VLC so I know they play, and the images are 730-780mb.

Thanks for the replies, i'm giving ImgBurn a try now (seems to be going well so far).

I hate it when people think they're being clever. We didn't all just fall off the turnip truck.

Your problem is probably because it's just another botched illegal file. With as much as uploaders screw up video/files and make it detestable quality, it's a wonder that group like RIAA and MPAA even care. It's all messed-up trash. It might even be a fake file altogether.

Who's trying to be clever? I'm simply stating the truth. You have no way of knowing whether I or anyone else here is downloading/burning legit content or not.

Aren't those images a bit too big for a 700 Mb CD?

Turns out the problem was Nero as the very much legal video file of my family holiday, which was turned from a DVD to a KVCD by a friend over this new fangled high speed internet thing since I haven't got a clue how to do it so that I can make copies cheaply and easily to give to other friends, is now playing on the dvd player.

Once again thank you to those people that actually contributed.

I thought so too but it seems to play all the way through.. Maybe some of that filesize is just instructions on how to burn the image for the burning application? Just a guess, I don't know how these things work.

VCDs and SVCDs, (and derivations of them such as what the KVCD template creates) are burnt in mode 2 which allows for approximately 800MBs on an 80 min cdr, so that's why they fit.
