No Output when using 2pass VBR why?

When trying to convert from Divx.avi to SVCD I cannot get any output when using 2pas VBR put it's ok when using CBR. Why is this.
It appears to be encoding ok, but there is no Mpeg in the save folder when it's done or when I stop it to check the quality.????

when encoding 2pass will the encoder first check the source the first pass too calculate the bitrate thats why there are no mpg file but after 50% of the progress it starts the second pass and generates the mpg file.

It it worth converting Divx to svcd or should I stick to vcd?

If the Divx quality is very good it will and it will be a big loss in quality to convert to VCD, i go vith SVCD since it can give much better picture.
