  1. How do you encode in 2pass ????

I can't figure it out i got the x264 VFW ffdshow
That's what i want to use (not another version) so some bright guy tell me how to just do that i tried today but i can't get a desired bitrate so i must have missed a key parameter.

    Thank you

  2. Set for "Multipass - 1st pass", encode. The video produced during this pass will be empty, the encoder is just examining the video and saving information in the stats file. When done, set up for "Multipass -Nth pass" and encode again. This is your final video.

  3. If you have the the VFW x.264 codec already installed, open it in Virtualdub, and try this procedure

Yeah i know that did u ever see the interface of the VFW release there is no multipass there is 1st pass average, 2nd pass int and 2nd pass ext

I mean with xvid when i want a specific bit rate i get it with x264 i can't so what do i miss ?

If you know a real tutorial for x264 2pass encoding just put the url

  7. It sounds like you are using the ffdshow encoder version, not the x264vfw version

  8. yes that's what i meant sorry

    edit:

Well their forum seem dead, is there another x264version that's compatible with vdub and that works in 2pass mode / easily manageable ?

You can also do that same 2-pass encode with vdub: using avisynth scripts that you feed into vdub and save into the JOB CONTROL section.

If you're gonna do anything good for your source, at least do it in scripts and then feed it to your final encoder-destinator, vdub in this case.
