    Hi!

I need a step-by-step tutorial on using FFMPEGX to convert RM to MP4.

I have downloaded & installed the latest version (0.0.9w)
and have downloaded & installed the various suggested libraries.

When I try to covert, I get the following Applescript Error:

Can't get text item 2 of "Binary file (standard input) matches". (-1728)
Does anyone know what this means, or what I might be doing wrong?

All & any help is most welcome

    TIA

  2. Possibly you installed ffmpegX in a subfolder of /Applications or your disk name contains special characters?

    Hi

FFMPEGx is installed in the Applications foilder, not a sub-folder.
My disc name contains no special characters (Macintosh HD).
The binaries, mpeg2enc and other libraries have ben installed in /Library/Application Support/ffmpegx.

All I want from this program is to be able to occasionally convert a RealMedia video to a Quicktime compatible video.

    Any other suggestions?

    TIA

What settings do you use in ffmpegx to convert rm to avi.
I'd be happy to go that path & then finish it in QT

OK I'll try to be clear as possible.
in the summary tab, you drop your .rm file (not a .ram, if so, change the suffix before the drop).
In the target format , choose AVI DivX.
In video tab, Video Codec is MPEG4[.AVI] (mencoder)
    Video bitrate is 516 / parameters 640X480 / autosize 4:3 /
    frame rate NTSC (29.97)
    audio is .MP3 at 128 kbit/s / 48000 Hz / CBR
No filters used in my setup and the rest is preset

Good luck it has worked fine and I convert a lot of real Videos with this setup.

    Many thanks!
I have finally got the conversion working
Only one more thing, the audio seems to be slightly out of sync with the video on the converted file. Just enough, on a music video to make it look like miming.
It wasn't on the original rm file.
    Any thoughts?
Once again, thanks for the input.

Could not be very usefull on audio more detailled specs. You might find some stufff about Real audio codecs. This corp. works mostly on streaming media. Maybe changing data rate could help to synchro. Scan and read about it. You will find awnsers as I did for the video convertion. Good luck
