I've downloaded an anime series which I want to burn to be played on a DVD player in widescreen.
The series is in AVI format and the resolution is at 640x360 (already 16:9). I've been using the program [Boilsoft AVI to VCD/SVCD/DVD Converter] to convert the AVI into MPEG. I burnt the converted videos with Nero 6.
When I watched the videos on the DVD player with a 4:3 TV, it is not letter-boxed so the sides are cut off. I've tested it on multiple DVD players, but they all give the same result.
Converting the videos takes so long... so I need some help instead of wasting my time and DVDs testing.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, if anyone can help or recommend a better program to convert videos which may solve my problem and give me step-by-step instructions on how to convert with that program I would be very grateful.

    Thanks

ConvertXtoDVD is the simplest solution by far. The only caveat is if the anime is fan-subbed. If so, there is a good chance the subs do not observe safe zones, and will get cut off at the edges. if this happens then you will have to look at a combination of FitCD, avisynth and a standalone encoder. Do a search in these forums for Overscan and FitCD for more details.

You can also use my tool DIKO (which is Freeware). Just remember to change the configuration to get widescreen output.
