Whenever I convert a video from MPEG to WMV I just get a black screen with no picture, but I can hear the audio playing. I've tried lots of converters and I've downloaded lots of codecs to try to solve this problem, but nothing has helped. Help me please!

Well there are other video file types out there. Have you tried divx? Why do you need just wmv? Sometimes I find it easier to use an alternative than to keep pushing with a problem.

  5. The same thing happened to me on an old Windows install,I think it has to do with the codecs. When I reinstalled Windows(without PowerDVD) WMM worked perfectly, make sure you don't have the Cyberlink MPEG-2 codec installed.
You might try Super,Ulead VideoStudio or ArcSoft Showbiz.

Im trying to upload them a website and they have to have a small file size. I don't think you can upload divx files to it either. It's weird because the first time I converted it, it worked, then it just stopped working.

You can download and install the WMV9 VCM. Get it here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/codecs/video.aspx#WindowsMediaVideo9VCM

Then open the mpeg in Virtualdub-mpeg2 and save the AVI using WMV9 compression. Make sure to also use compression for Audio. You can use mp3 if you want.

I'm pretty sure if you use Virtualdub with the wmv9 VCM, that you have to save as AVI with wmv9 codec. Virtualdub only allows saving to AVI.

It may not play in all players, I've only tested Windows Media Player, MPC, Nero, even Irfanview. It works fine for me and everyone I've sent clips to.

Here's an example of an AVI encoded with wmv9 vcm. See if it plays fine for you. No audio, only video.
