What's the easiest/quickest method/program for editing the author and title info on a few hundred MP3 and WAV files?

You're really after a mass ID3 tag editor. I had a quick look at those results and turned up a couple of potential applications - see if there's something in there. I can't suggest anything, I'm afraid, as I have never needed to mass-rename my audio files (they're all named by CDDB when I ripped my originals to Ogg Vorbis).

EagsOn, http://eagson.webcindario.com/ is free, easy to use.

If the files have no ID3 tags, it will take a while to rewrite them all. After that it's pretty quick.

MP3 only; I don't know anything that tags WAVs.

IIRC, .WAV doesn't have metafile data. I use The GodFather to manage tags and titles for .MP3, or if its just a couple of tags WinAmp has a pretty good tag editor.

SURE it does! You can use a number of programs to add and read the data (though most CD burning apps won't) -- CoolEdit/Audition, ProTools, etc. It's in the RIFF header as additional data fields. You can use RIFFView or others (Google: "Riff" and "viewer"). To read 'em.

    Here's an example...

    1. Simple small silent WAV file:

    2. Simple small silent WAV file, with info added:

BTW (On-topic again), thanks for that link. Every now and again I could use a good mass re-tagger.

I ended up using "MP3TAG". Does exactly what I needed.
