it's when the video is adjusting it self, the message comes up for the tracking

  4. I usually let it track, then picture search back to the beginning and start recording. You can turn the on screen display off on some machines, some you can't.

  5. Ok, Got it. On a RCA I used to use the display button on the remote to disable on screen messages. On the JVC I'm using now it is a menu setting to display or not.

Another way is that most VCRs can be changed to Manual tracking mode and that will surpress the message too. You will need tha manual for that as it isn't intuitive on most units how to do.

How did you remove this on the JVC (I have an HR-S9800U without remote). All VCR status information (e.g. calibration, tracking) goes to the TV, which I obviously don't want when I'm recording to DVD.

  7. For the JVC VCRs, go into menu and make sure superimpose is off.
