are there any third party programs i can use to strip down ratdvd files, how is it done?
everytime i try burning or converting in ratdvd it freezes up

ratDVD is pretty much a closed source, non-standardized format and there may not be any other source of programs for it from other than their own site, at least legally. When using very high compression rates like it does, any type of corruption in the file can cause it to be unreadable. ratDVD seemed to have came and went in popularity.
It may not be the files at fault, though. Have you tried them on a different computer?
