I have a few videos on my PC that are DV type-2. Is there any way to convert these AVIs to the raw .DV format? Being that it's the same format except one's in the AVI container, there should be no encoding required, right?

I've recently decided to move my video editing tasks from my PC to my new Intel iMac, but the problem is iMovie only accepts .DV; anything else, it will convert to .DV (which takes forever) before you can begin editing it.

While I would perfer to have an app that runs on Windows, an OSX app can be fine to.

Quicktime Pro. ($29US). Look no further.

Thankfully, you have DV-AVI Type2, which QT understands.
Open, and Export as "DV stream". No recompression.

You can either get the Windows or OSX version of QTpro (or both).
