when i open norton Go Back a list of previous dates would normally come up but no when i open it a message saying-

There are no events available to revert to.

This occurs whenever the history log doesn't contain any safe point or boot events.

This happend a few weeks ago so i re-installed it but ive just noticed it yesterday and still there are no dates to restore back to if i wished to do so.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

It's a Norton Product and will never function properly until you uninstall it.

The only good Norton is the one you leave on the store shelves.

By default it creates a RP once a da or whenever you install a patch or service pack. Some software creates RPs prior to installation/uninstallation.
Go to Start->Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services. Check System Restore Service to see if it's set to Automatic and is Started. If not, right-click, select Start, then set it to Automatic for future startup behavior. It should create a restore point once a day. If not, try disabling it then re-enabling it. Also check Start->Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->System->Restore Point to be sure it's enabled and that there are sane disk-usage settings.

    Steps to fixing your problems.

    1. Remove any Norton Software on your computer
    2. Install AVG antivirus (free)

Agreed on all points. Norton tends to cause more problems than it solves; indeed, you'd be better off with no A/V than Norton's. Luckily AVG, Antivir, and Avast! are free and good.

  9. Back on topic, the question asked was about GoBack not an antivirus.

    Have you run Live update?

Did you send an e-mail to Norton asking for support?

Could you have caught a Virus/Spyware? I've seen a few of them that dump the System Restore points, Speculating that they do it to prevent you from reverting to clean them out.

  10. For the Norton Bashers, NAV works fine for me ever since Windows 95 days. At $20 for the AV it seems affordable too. I worry about a free AV and/or products from certain countries. An AV product has the ability to be a system killer.

Which is what Norton tends to be.

I wouldn't worry about the free product in AVG or Avast. Both work great and are not system killers. I used Norton until around the turn of the millenium. Their product has gone downhill ever since. I still get customers who insist I install Norton so I have used every new one since that time. I can report significant system slow down and significant issues with each and every system I installed it on. On the plus side, these customers pay the shop fee each time I have to fix something Norton screwed up. Quite a few have told me just to remove it. Normally a $20 fee I waive for removal of Norton.

the only norton products i use are go back & systemworks, i like systemworks because of the one button checkup.
I use AVG & ZoneAlarm for antivirus & firewall.

I have not seen any problems with norton internet security /antivirus .... no system slow down here and i've been using it for years ..... and yes i have tried AVG and other free AV software for comparison purposes and i don't see any difference in system speed (or indeed any other system problems) between the free stuff and nortons product ..... maybe some people have just not set norton up properly

its down to personal prefference ..... so stop slagging norton's products just because you prefer something else
