  1. Hello, I hope to see a solution to this...

    When I import videos into for editting, something is wrong.
    The video is all black in premiere, but only audio remains.

    In after effects, it gives an error message :

    After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream. (3)
    ( 53 :: 34 )

    What should I do?? I removed all codecs already, and reinstalled many times. Please offer assistance. Thanks.

    Check your Setup. That might be your problem.

  3. Actually the problem persisted for a year... but i haven't done any editting for a year. It particularly affects DivX and Xvid videos... well? Any clues?

  4. What kind of file are you trying to edit? AVI? Mpeg? Divx?
    If you're trying something funky like Divx or Xvid, make sure you have all the necessary codecs installed.

    Try using VirtualDUb to convert them to a more Premiere friendly format.

    I know this is an old post but I got mine solved by removing Xvid and use FFDShow as Xvid. that way, I can open mpeg4 and encode XviD compressor in AE.

    didn't have this problem until I fresh install my XP OS recently
