Hello, I hope to see a solution to this...
When I import videos into for editting, something is wrong.
The video is all black in premiere, but only audio remains.
In after effects, it gives an error message :
After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream. (3)
( 53 :: 34 )
What should I do?? I removed all codecs already, and reinstalled many times. Please offer assistance. Thanks.

Actually the problem persisted for a year... but i haven't done any editting for a year. It particularly affects DivX and Xvid videos... well? Any clues?

What kind of file are you trying to edit? AVI? Mpeg? Divx?
If you're trying something funky like Divx or Xvid, make sure you have all the necessary codecs installed.-mojo-

Try using VirtualDUb to convert them to a more Premiere friendly format.
