Okay, I'm sure this has been posted a bunch of times, but if someone could help me, it would mean a lot.
I have created a DVD using DVD Studio Pro 4, with simple chapter markers. I tested the DVD before I burned, and everything was fine. I went to play it back in my DVD player, and the DVD works up until the 37 or 38 minute mark, and then freezes/gets plixelated, and won't play any further. The three previous chapters work fine, (I can skip right to the start of the chapter) and the video is fine up to that point. I used the Best Quality 90 minute MPEG2 setting in compressor, and there is only 60 minutes worth of video on the disk. I tested it in my Mac DVD player, and everything works as it should.
Is this a DVD player issue? (this is for a client, so I want to make sure it will work on his player). I should also mention, that when I burn a simple DVD with no chapter markers, (ie 60 mins. of straight video) the DVD plays fine in BOTH my players. Any thoughts?
Thanks

First, what type of MEDIA are you using?
Second, when you did re-burn the build onto another disc,
without chapters, was it from the same spindle of MEDIA as
the other disc?
third, just curious...why did you use the 90min setting when
you could have used the 60 minute setting, if there was only
60 minutes of video TOTAL on the disc? Just curious on
this last one...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

The media I'm using is DV files from Final Cut Pro, if that's what you're asking. I didn't re-burn this specific disk, I've just done quick DVD creations in the past with no cahpter markers and they work fine.
I quess I figured if it a high quality encode for 90 minutes, 60 minutes wouldn't have any problems. -
no actually the physical MEDIA, the brand of disc,
is what I'm asking.
Is it Memorex, Sony, Maxell, Apple,
etc? DVD-R?DVD+R? -RW?"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

Oh, I'm actually not sure. They are DVDs with the paper coating on them so you can print lables with an inkjet printer. I got them bulk. I will try again with some different brands. Any other thoughts?

If you have Toast, you can do Disc Info and get a Manufacturer ID (aka Media Code), which is a good indication of quality of the discs. Just select the menu command with a disc in the drive.
DVD Media Inspector (freeware) does a similar thing. -
Thanks guys, I took the DVD to The Sony Store, and tried it out on a few different DVD players, and it's MY DVD player that is the problem.

so what brand of DVD Player is it?
If you click on the left on the link for
"DVD Players" you should find
other user reports on it, and recommendations
for best media to use with it."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
