I'm abandoning my vcr (it's currently in my office plugged into my Hauppuage PVR-150). I've been copying my home recorded videos successfully, but some rather old and no longer available videos show a form of copy protection that breaks up the picture. As these are treasured and only for my own use, does anyone know if I can defeat this with the PVR-150, or what I need in order to get an MPEG2 that I can put to DVD.

I've considered an H&B TX-100 as an alternative so would appreciate any feedback from anyone who's tried that too.

    Regards, John

You need to look for a tbc device. (Time Bounce Correction).

Time Base Corrector. Depends on what the interference type is. Is it really protection (Macrovision) or bad tape or unadjusted video head.

My Hauppauge PVR USB2 doesn't seem bothered by any of the MacroVision stuff I've sen to it. IIRC it uses the same encoder as the 150. Maybe there's a registry hack that can set it straight?
