I wonder what program is used to produce advertesting clips with no live objects, like advertesing for detergents, mobile telephones, chocolate……., when they are rolling and spining around, pomping, showing their all three dimensions, rolling and flying text and so.I want to start to learn making such video clips but I don’t know where to start.
I know about 3D Max 7 and Adobe After Efects but they are to tough for me.
Maybe some other simple program for beginners will help.
    Regards.

  2. Check into Blender (free). I learned 3D on Raydream Studio ($99 almost ten years ago). If you somehow find Raydream, get the patch for Win2000/XP. You can't install it without it. But seriously, learn Blender or Max for more "current" knowledge.

Blender is good , but if you need to create 3d model's , then also consider wings3d .

Then there is fly3d210 ... game engine which is really quite basic , though just like any program with so many function's it too take's time to get the grip's of .

Also good old free gmax .

A program that I tried a few years ago was called Simply 3d.

As I recall it was easy to use. I think I was using it with Windows 2000.

You can find the program occasionally on ebay.

The gold standard for much commercial/movie work is Autodesk's Maya. There is a free "Personal Learning Edition" available (watermarks the images, some output limits) that would be fine for learning purposes. Full commercial Maya is $$$$$ (don't ask -- you can't afford it). But the learning curve is very steep, as it will be for any decent 3-D package. Something I used a little years ago was Asymetrix 3DF/X, which you might be able to find in the used S/W market. Much easier to use, but much more limited, as well. I don't know whether it will run under 2K/XP. Probably, but I've never tried it.

All found by typing "3D" in the "Tools" search...

I subscribe to www.download.com, and their last newsletter mentions Google Sketchup.
