i get an error saying "could not copy avisynth.dll to system directory - close down all applications that use Avisynth, and be sure to have write permission to system directory, and try again".

ive googled it, and looked on the site. ive deleted all avisynth files (did a search on my computer, including hidden files), and all avisynth registry files. i looked in my process list, and i made sure there are no programs running that use avisynth. ive tried rebooting and i still get the same error.

    anyone know why?

maybe i dont have write permission to the system directory? if so, how do i do that?

    Make yourself a local administrator.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Using Windows Explorer, try copying a file into your c:\windows\system32 directory.
    If in doubt, Google it.

i unchecked "read only" for the system32 folder (and all the files etc inside... is that ok to do?) and it worked.

  9. really strange... i had exactly the same and your solution worked.

I also tried the new version of april 2, which didn't work either. I'm system admin, I ran windows in safe mode, nothing helped except this. Makes no sense but w/e

Obviously something is making the Windows\System32 directory read-only (AFAIK it isn't by default). Possibly a "feature" of your AV software ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I'm just thinking that part of the "auto-protect" mechanism that comes with some AV solutions could conceivably make certain files read only is all.
    If in doubt, Google it.
