I recently was able to rip a DVD to my HD using Mac the Ripper, it is saved as a VOB. I am now not sure what to do next to burn this to 4.7 GB DVD when the size is greater. I have FFmpegX am supposed to encode this differently? I am looking to be able these DVD's on a regular DVD player. Any suggestion in how I should proceed?

    Thanks in Advance

    If in doubt, Google it.

There are three basic steps, and you've done the first.

Step 2 is compression, to fit the VIDEO_TS folder onto a 4.7gb disc.
Unless, of course, you are writing to an 8.5gb DL.

Step 3 is burning in the proper format.

Toast and Popcorn (both Roxio commercial products) will do steps
2 and 3 automagically. DVDToOneX (DETOX to the in crowd) V2
also compresses and burns. Also commercial. DTOX-1 only compresses.

I gotta say. I'm still a fan of DVD Remaster. Maybe it's my inner need to feel different, but I really liked the output of the program just a little bit better than DVD2OneX.

    Here's my three steps:

    #1: Rip DVD [I use MacTheRipper 2.6.6]
#2: Yes it will be a lot >4.7GB so downsize it [DVD2oneX2]
#3: Burn it! [Toast 6 Titanium]

--> Just make sure you have enough disc space to hold the "raw" DVD or ~7GB and the converted DVD ~4.7GB!

    filbert11,

I used the DVDoneX2 to burn it to the DVD which seemed to work fine (7 min to condense 19 to burn), is toast better product for the burnning?

I have already bought an external HD now realizing how much memory is needed!

If DETOX works for you, then that is the way to go. Compression engine in DETOX is better then toast or popcorn. The burn app in DETOX gives some folks trouble.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.
