I have a video where the sound is delayed and it doesn't go together with the picture, there is about 1min 17 seconds of the audio that need to be cut off, and than the audio will start in time with the video, i know it's possible to do this with virtual dub, but i have tryed and it doesn't help, please explain me how to do it.

I use virtualdubmod, so these instructions are specific to that variant, but I'm sure you will find the same functions in any version.
Streams->Stream List. Right-click on the audio stream and choose Interleaving. Bottom half of the dialgue is Audio skew. Put in the delay in millisecond (cand be a negative number if necessary). Click OK and OK, then preview the results. Repeat with new numbers if necessary until audio back in sync.
Once you are happy, make sure video and audio are set to Direct Stream Copy, and save the results to a new file. View this file in a seperate media player (VLC is good) as a final test of sync.Read my blog here.

If the audio is coming in late (i.e the mouth moves before the words are spoken), then putting in a negative delay will make the audio start earlier and bring it back into line. (e.g. -500 milliseconds)
If you are hearing the words before the mouth moves, use a positive number to make the audio start later (e.g. 500 milliseconds)Read my blog here.

you mean -500 instead of just 500?
I tryed but it doesn't seem to help...
also i noticed that as the video playes the audio comes later on about 4 minutes. -
To start of with , how long is this file you are playing ???
Virtualdub will cause you problem's after 6 minute's ... it appear's to cause the audio to drag behind the video in preview mode .
Something that has never been covered in any of the guide's available online .
This is why you must play the video in another player and make sure as to how much the audio is out by , and exactly where it start's from .
Hyper cube transcoder is the better choice for this resyncing problem ... or you can do it the hard way by stripping the audio to wav , edit in an audio app like goldwave , and reconnect the edited wav back to video in vdub , save avi and check ... but that's a very long and annoying method .
Also , if you use the preload in vdub with audio , try not exceeding 500ms (preload) / -500ms (audio skew)... it too can cause problem's for certain player's . -
ok thank you but can you please explain to me what exactley this transcoder does? and what do i do there?
