why won't it work?

I have a pinnacle systems studio dv, at the make movie suite i select video cd on mpeg1.
I then copy it to the hard drive.
My burner is an adeptec easy creator 4,in the cd layout properties the file system is joliet & the mode is cdrom xa & im burning as a data cd.
The 5 discs that i have produced will all play on my pc but not on my dvd player,which is a sony dvp-ns700v which plays other cdr & cdr/w which i have not produced!
When a cdr is in the dvd player it says it won't play this type of disc & when the cdr-w is in the dvd player it says the disc is dirty.
what am i doing wrong?

i was having a lot of problems on my dvd player when i burned with adeptec easy cd creator (version 4 and 5), but then i changed to Nero 5.5 and they have been working in my dvd player now, so i would say give it a shot because it might work, and if not atleast you know its not the burning program
