  1. Hi
I bought the ' HAUPPAUGE 958 WINTV-PVR-USB2 PERSONAL VIDEO RECORDER' kit which comes with Ulead DVD Moviefactory 3.0 SE.

I use this to transfer Video thru the PC onto DVD.

I am recording a 2 hour video, so i set it on DVD Extra Long Play on the WINTV program you use to capture the video, this records the movie as an MPEG2 , then use the Ulead program to do the menus and then burn the DVD.

Towards the end of the DVD when you view it the Video/Audio goes out of sync.

    Why would this happen ???

    Cheers.

There can be many reasons for audio out of sync. Fragmented HD, incorrect audio format, editing errors (frames added or removed affect sync unless audio and video are locked during editing), encoding problems, etc... Are you positive it was in sync, after it was captured? You will need to check at each stage of your process, to find where it is going bad.

  3. Ok i have changed systems now to WinTV 150 and it seems to work better with the Audio Synch.
Next problem, i am recording a 3 hour home video thru the PC onto DVD, using WinTV i set the Quality Level to DVD Extra Long Play, when i play it back its terrible quality, way worse than on the VHS Video.
If i set the settings to DVD Standard play i end up with an MPEG 2 file about 9 GB, how can i shrink this to fit on a standard DVD-R ??
I have tried using WinAVI Video Converter to convert the MPEG 2 into VOB files so i could use DVD Shrink but it comes up with an error message i think telling me that a 9GB file is too big for it to use.

You will need to use a double layer dvd to get 9gb on it. If you don't want to go double layer, then split the file, and burn 1/2 to 1 dvd, and the other 1/2 to another. Or you can try to encode it to 1/2 D1.

I have never burned a DL dvd. It was either here or on cdfreaks.com, where there was a guide for burning successful DL dvd's. About the only dvd's which seem to burn successfully, are verbatim DL dvd's, from what I have read. Also search here for half d1, and you will find the information that you are looking for.
