i really like TDA, but not the pro version.. for some reason i cant make menu's like i like.

i just want there to be 2 text buttons on the main menu (play & chapter selection), and in the chapter selection, i want the standard chapter selection menu like this

    Code:
    1: [picture] (description)
    2: [picture] (description)
    3: [picture] (description)
    4: [picture] (description)

[main menu] [next chapter selction menu]
    pic examples;

i really like the ability to be able to preview the ac3 audio while making chapters with TDA pro, but it's lack of my specific menu support (which is supported in TDA regular) keeps me with TDA regular.

  3. Got the same e-mail, ho-hum......

Also you forgot to mention the price goes up and the savings go down if you want the AC3 plug-in.

Already have DVD Author 1.5 and Xpress 3 with the AC3 plug-in. Both work fine.

I keep toying with the idea of going to the latest TDA as the dual layer support and preview fuctions look nice and of course the resize if needed to fit the target disk size. OTOH @$59.95 as a previous 1.5 owner and given that d/l media is still pricey and the other features have never really been needed. I can always author, and test play on the hard drive as is, It just takes longer with 1.5.

v1.5 supports dual layer, atleast for outputting to files. i've done a few with it.

  5. Hmmm... Just looked at the TDA Pro trial version and less control over the menus, Why?

Look like a reason not to upgrade. Maybe I should just get 1.6 for dual layer support. What are they thinking?

Thanks for letting me know so I didn't waste my $60 on the upgrade.

  6. lumis, Strange, my 1.5 version shows a max DVD size of 4438Mb.
I know it will let you create a larger size but IMHO that would mean that the layer break isn't being set?

Thus another program would have to set the layer break?

How did you do a D/L disk with 1.5 and set the layer break or did your burning s/w do it for you?

1.6 has a dual layer disc creation function.

  8. I've been looking into purchasing either the "TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO" or the "TMPGEnc DVD Author", but can't really find what the real differences are between the two. I guess my biggest question has to do with the inclusion/exclusion of the AC3 plug in.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but if I want the audio to transfer, I will need to get the AC3 plugin to add to TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6?

If you want to simply author video with AC3 soundtrack(already)you dont need the plug-in.However you will get no sound in the editing phase which can be overcome by playing the file in windvd or sim.
If you want to create motion menu's with AC3 then you need the plug-in as the rendered menu will have no sound.

And afaik the only diff between 1.6 and 1.5 is dual layer ability.I have 1.6 and it has the same limited menu choice as 1.5(allways better to use custom menu function)
