I would like to capture a portion of a chapter, say, 2 minutes of a dvd.
Can dvddecrypter or any other ripping application just rip a small snippet of a dvd? Or is my only choice to capture the content with some kind of video capture software and lose some of the video quality?

Baldrick, THANKS!!!! this worked like a charm. Talk about easy. Your direction for me to look at step 8 specifically was exactly what I needed !!! The only piece I had to figure out myself was to right click on the entire title file and then "choose start and end times". The only issue I'm having is some video noise at the beginning of the clip, which may be a combo of dvdshrink and my particular computer/dvd drive configuration?

One last question... if I have a ripped set of VIDEO and AUDIO TS folders I made with dvddecrypter a long while ago, can I use that as the source for dvd shrink rather than a physical dvd rom? I haven't explored it yet so maybe the answer is obvious, I need to make clips of other content I ripped long ago! Thanks again!

Yes. Just click on the 'Open Files' button and select the folder with the ripped files.
