Hi, I need a little guidance with an annoying problem I have.
I bought the Deadwood season 1 boxset and I want to convert the 4 DVDs to 12 seperate episodes in XviD format.
I'm happy enough with the creation of XviD files (using simpledivx), but I can't seem to get the ripping quite right.
On each disc there are three episodes but I can't figure out how to rip and isolate each episode prior to conversion. I can get the first episode on each disc converted successfully but not the subsequent two.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Spence.

    Suddenly it all becomes clear . . . .
All I needed to change was the file splitting setting in ifo mode.
Thanks jimmalenko for a nudge in the right direction!

    If in doubt, Google it.

Okay... I must not that this is my first post, LOL! Hi, everybody! Anyway... I started encoding a couple days ago. It took me a really long time to figure out how to do it all. I especially wanted to figure it out in order to watch my DVDs on my iPod without having to purchase expensive software. However, I find that putting DVDs into QuickTime is more complicated than putting them into RealPlayer, but this could totally just be me! (I'm using a PC by the way.)

So... I want to convert my Dragon Ball Z episodes. The only thing is that the video changes depending on which audio you select. I hope that made sense. Like, the opening and ending credits are different if you choose Japanese over English. The only thing is: I want to put these opening/ending credits in the AVI file. But, I haven't found a software that can do this. Especially when I use DVD Decrypter. The opening credits are seperated from the video to where I cannot play them together. But I really want to. I originally used SimpleDivX, but it doesn't work most of the time. I started using AutoGK, but that doesn't work for what I'm trying to do. Just someone help!

  5. Have you tried using DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode (Mode->IFO, up at the top), rather than in the default File Mode?

Yeah, I've tried File mode (which I use with SimpleDivX) and IFO mode with AutoGK. I like all the features that come with SimipleDivX, but a lot of the times, when I try to upload the files on the first step [of SimpleDivX], there's like no files! The DVD Decrypter doesn't do it properly or something. I'm just having a problem. Ahh!

I have done this using dvddecrypter in file mode and or ifo mode.
Rip entire DVD to folder of choice.
Use DGIndex (freeware) and seperate the episodes and demux all audio of each episode you find . Save each episode to seperate folder .
You can now do whatever you like ,, author new DVD's , and or make xvids of the episodes . I used AutoGK to make xvids , turned out well .I have all the Deadwood series episodes now . Good luck , have fun

Doesn't AutoGK use DGIndex?? I don't think that process would work though. Like I said, the episodes are already seperated and that's the problem!

Okay. I appreciate the help, but let me make this clearer, even for myself, LOL! So... on my Dragon Ball Z DVDs, everytime you begin an episode, the opening credits are shown. (This changes depending on the language you are watching the show in.) -> This is sort of like "angles" when you are watching or even decrypting the DVD. However, for every episode, the same opening is shown, as in one episode ends and it goes back to the opening file and there is only one. Then, the next episode is shown. I have made AVI files from these episodes already, but they are without the openings and closing.

I just want to know a way I could attach those on in one file! Is there a software that can take two or more AVI files and convert them into one, playing one after the other? This is more along the lines of what I need.

Actually, I may not even need this. I am self-diagnosing myself after all. If anyone has more suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I also appreciate the suggestions that were already made.

    Thanks,
    ~ StarlightMaker

    Virtualdub > Append perhaps ?

Do you really want to watch the starting and ending credits on every episode though ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
