  1. I have created a DVD and it looks great, but the one issue I have is with the subtitles. They appear right at the bottom of the screen and near impossible to read. I have tried various things, but for the moment I am at a loss. I have encoded them to 720X480 and they play fine on the computer before and after i transcode them, but once I pop the DVD into the player, the subtitles be it top or bottm are right on the edge of the screen. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?

It has to do with tv overscan I believe. I believe you need to place them higher up so they don't get lost on the set.

Search the site for terms like "tv safe zones" or "overscan" and you should be able to get pointed in the right direction.

Are these real subs, or burned in subs (eg. fansubbed anime)

  5. they are fansubbed and well for the most part I have that issue fixed, the only other thing I need to look into is fixing how the color goes grainy at times. Well mostly the blacks look grainy, but the rest of the color isn't that bad. Being that I am new at this stuff, it seems a bit of learning over and over again. any thoughts?
