  1. Are some USB cables, USB 1.0 or are all USB cables capable of USB 2...???

The reason I ask is I have an older USB 1.1 cable and want to use it with a USB 2.0 device...

    Thanks

    Ken

Some are, some aren't. It depends on the specs. You will know when you attach a high speed device via a low speed cable as windows will warn you about the transfer rate.

    Try it.

The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work and you have to spend $5-10 (USD) to get a USB 2.0 cable.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

In relation to that linked topic I buy my extension cables in bulk lots of 10. These are generic USB2 made in china extension cables and when you buy in bulk you save on shipping. I can get 10 - 6 foot USB2 extension cables delivered to my door for $16. I don't need longer or shorter cables.

Is there any place someone knows of that I could buy them cheaper than this?

  6. cheaper than 16 dollars shipped? probably not.......that is pretty much rock bottom pricing on usb cables, unless your intending on buying in MASS bulk (like hundreds at a time) then maybe you can talk to a company that makes them directly and they can cut you some sort of deal..........but 1.60 per cable (averaging it out) isnt bad at all.....

That's what I thought but it never hurts to ask. In case anyone else is interested: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16812116121

Never buy just 1, you save plenty by buying 2 or more. At 8, shipping is free. I provide these cables to anyone who buys an external drive from me or those needing an extension.

You can never have enough cables. I always get USB, IDE, Firewire, SATA, internal audio, power, and other cords in bulk.

It sucks when you buy a refurbished optical drive and you realize after it comes you don't have an extra SATA cord hanging around. :/
