  1. Picked up a spindle of 25 Fujis DVD-Rmade in Taiwan... Media code is FUJIFILM03..

Well, I've been having some weird problems with them... I've burned about 1/2 of the spindle however about every 5th or 6th disc will burn odd... If I flip the dvd-r over the burn doesn't start at the inner edge... Instead it starts towards the middle when I use my LG 4120B or my LG 16x buner... Nero does not report any burning errors...

My Pioneer A105 just refuses to burn any of these dics and never gets past the calibration test....

The ones that do burn, appear to be fine and play in my dvd players, except one of my Norcent DP300s which is starting to get picky about other media as well... But that's a different post...

I would return the spindle but I lost my sales reciept... Fuji in the past was always one of my favourite media...

Anyone else have any similar experience with this media FUJIFILM03....???

  2. might be a bad batch,or more than likely,faulty.
might not even be grade A,so to speak, they might be reprints,or grade B media posing as A.
ive had some tubs of media that have fingermarks on them, and wipemarks too,so i wouldnt put it past any manufacturer to try to get away with dirty tricks these days.

  3. I've had excessive dust and finger print problems on some of my media as well... I guess when they sell discs for 25 cents quality control is no longer profitable...

  4. they have to be grade A rejects or returns then, probably checked by monkeys, then stuck in tubs, and resold.

Yes. I've reported very inconsistent quality with these discs. This was with both my Pioneer 105 and new 110 D. Latest firmware. Discs would start the burning process well, then 70% through they would error out unexpectedly. Many more would error out after the lead in. I've avoided them since that batch. Fuji should have stuck with Prodisc media.

Fuji is still good if you can find their MIJ (Made in Japan) media. It's getting harder to locate here in the US. That made in Taiwan Fujifilm03 stuff is very hit or miss. I have had decent results burning it on a Pioneer 108 - marginal on a Nec 3550 and downright awful on an LG 4167B. I bought one spindle - but never ever again.

Why wasn't this a major clue for you?

You bought crap media. Expect crap results.
