  1. I am having audio sync issues when I try to burn a DVD created from captured HDTV content - 1280x720, 59.94fps. HDTV2DVD works great complete with 5.1 surround but I would like to use DVDA for more creative projects. The audio will be noticeably ahead at about 3:30 into the video. By the end (approx 43 minutes) it is a few seconds off.

When I burn my project, the audio is left untouched so I am thinking that the problem is with DVDA compression of the video track. I am rendering with Vegas now to test this theory. Has anyone else had similar problems with this type of video and framerate?

My workflow consists of the following:
Capture using CapDVHS ---> .ts file.
Import .ts into HDTV2MPEG2 to edit commercials.
Import edited .ts into DVDA - Author DVD - Burn.

I've also tried demuxing with PVAStrumento, importing the mpv file into DVDA and associating the ac3 audio track. This method also failed.

One thing that is important to me is the ability to keep the 5.1 Surround track intact. Rendering the AC3 in Vegas screws up the original mix. My ultimate goal for this project is to be able to author a high quality DVD with 5.1 Surround from HDTV content captured off my Motorola DCT6412. If the Vegas render fails, what are my options? Is there a setting I am missing somewhere in DVDA?

  2. Well sorry to say that the Vegas render didn't work, but the video does look DAMN GOOD. Rendering to .avi proved unsuccessful as well, but I did find a solution...

What I had to do in order to use DVDA and keep a correctly synced 5.1 Surround track was create the DVD with HDTV2DVD and import the resulting .vob files into DVDA. Instead of importing 1GB chunks, I opened the DVD in DVD Shrink and unchecked the 1GB setting. This gave me one single file which I then opened in DVDA, created in and out points, chapters and burned.

I am very happy to say that the resulting audio and video quality is excellent!

Guessing, if it helps... DVDA can be picky. Sometimes helps to use Ac3fix or delaycut on AC3, sometimes restream with video. To import mpg2, DVDA prefers mpg format without audio -- mux the m2v without supplying audio in TMPGEnc's Mpeg Tools.
