    OK...another dumb question.
Can badly authored TDA folders result in a DVD that is proving
very difficult to burn properly and copy?

I'm stumped on this one. I'm getting bad burns on a DVD I created
yesterday via my DV Cam, TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and TDA.

Inputted DV footage to Plus, encoded then authored with TDA. All supposedly went well but have yet to get a good burn from the folders.
The burns turn out fine according to the program but when I go to create
an ISO image of the DVD (my sister's player needs to have DVD+R's booked to DVD-ROM...and I only have DVDDecrypter to set booktype)...I'm getting read errors.
I even had a bad burn (read errors) on my TY discs.
I even tried folder2iso from the folders....same result.
    I'm stumped.

I'm trying a simple single layer factory pressed DVD backup now with DVDFabDecrypter and my folder burning program (Prassi Ones) as a test to see if it is my BenQ1620Pro that is mucking up.

EDIT: Ah forget my post, sorry.

EDITx2: Hey, so the burns are OK, but you can't get an ISO off them? But they play alright? Have you tried making an ISO from the TDA folders (VIDEO_TS)? It "could" be that your burner/drive is in need of a clean??

Simple backup also shows 3 bad "blocks" on Nero CD Speed.
    I don't get it...

I would use one of those cd/dvd cleaners on it. Have you updated the firmware? The last one is from 09/05. http://support.benq.com/front/BenqMain.asp?MenuHead=128&ShowType=program&FileURL=servi...otId=undefined

Hope this helps. I might be the burner is beginning to fail and time for a new one.

They play fine....although one burn showed up as a data DVD...it would not play in PowerDVD.

I also have an old(er) LG4040B burner in this computer. I will try some burning with that one too. My BenQ is the one that can do bitsetting though... ...my LG cannot.

I wish I had written down all of the scenarios so far....but I didn't plan on having this much trouble. I have already disabled Skype and Skype Phone from my start up....that is the only thing I have really changed(added) on this computer recently....but my CPU usage was still at 1 to 4% even WITH the two Skype things active.

I've already got B7W9(the latest) firmware on this one...which is rare for me cause I'm not a big firmware guy...

I'll try my old faithful LG now.

Thanks Guys...I'll keep posting my mishaps...
