  1. On the installation instructions, it says you need the Apple mpeg2 player component to decode with Quicktime. Apple is charging $20 for it, but I was able to use the decode with Quicktime function (with letterboxing) without the mpeg2 player component... Am I missing something? Is there a way to determine that I am actually decoding using Quicktime?

    Any insight is appreciated.

If your source file is MPEG-2 (SVCD, DVD), only then does 'Decoding with QuickTime' need the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.

  3. Thank you much Case! That makes complete sense. For some reason I thought that Quicktime also decoded other types of streams, too.
