  1. ok, ive looked at manuals and stuff and im still very confused.

In TMPGENC express what do u insert as ur input, and could someone please explain when i should use each one?

    Pixel 1:1 (square pizel)
    Pixel 10:11 (NTSC 4:3)
    Pizel 40:33 (NTSC 16:9)
    Pixel 12:11 (PAL 4:3)
    Pizel 16:11 (PAL 16:9)
    Image 4:3
    Image 16:9
    Image 2.21:1

Im so confused on what to sue here, i always get way different results and i try the most obvious ones too, and like, it doesnt always seem like the most obvious one gives the most effective results. Could someone please explain exactly which each option is specifially for? I use all sorts of movies too, widescreen, fullscreen, pal, ntsc. But when i match up those options i sometimes get wierd results.

Thank you very much in advace, greatly appreciated.

Also should i make the output resolution higher than the input or is that just pointless?

And as the output resolution i should always check 16:9 for wide and 4:3 for full correct?

    What is your source ?

AVI files are generally 1:1, however if it is DV AVI, use the aspect ratio your camera shot the material in.

For output 4:3 or 16:9 should used if you are outputting for DVD.

Should you resize ? Unless your source material happens to have a DVD compliant resolution, you will have to resize. Up or down is your choice, hpwever it is worth noting that 16:9 is only available at full/crop D1 resolution, and not the lower resolutions. If the resolution is closer to the higher res, I would go up.
