I'm trying to backup the first season of Fox's House. I've ripped the first disk using decrypter, and burned the image. The dvd won't play correctly in my computers, it will start on the title menu instead of the opening titles. It will play fine on my dvd player on the tv though. I've never had anything happen like this. That is with regular dvd movies though. Any tips?

Guess might be that somewhere in ripping or shrinking ifo's are getting changed. Playing orig. on HD might give a clue if it's shrink or decryptor.

If it helps, here's a procedure that seems pretty foolproof & actually doesn't take long...

From DVD on HD, Shrink in re-author mode creating a DVD layout for each episode. Pgcdemux on each episode's layout. DGIndex to strip/demux 1st play vid & menu vid (2 steps). Feed it all into DVD authoring app, 2 episodes per disc. Since you're just copying files, doesn't take long, and get to keep orig. quality rather then trying to squeeze it all in.

Let me give some more details. I'm ripped the full ISO with decrypter, and then burning it onto a DL dvd with decrypter.

Then my guess, where I'd look 1st anyway , would be to see if the prob was there in the iso by using daemon tools or something like that. If it isn't, then try another method of burning. If it is, try another method of ripping.

My understanding is that sometimes the ripper has to make an educated guess on re-writing files to do it's job with a DVD that's essentially broken or illegal (according to DVD spec). PCs are pickier then DVD players, can look at stuff in the ifo's that a set-top box will ignore because it's just simpler (or maybe that gap they talk about re: Pgcedit is necessary for your PC?).

Another ripper &/or method might solve it. Re-authoring certainly would. & from what i've read, methods of burning *might* alter things very slightly.
